Architect Office Visists

These last couple of days have been very exciting and full filling! Yesterday we visited Manabu Chibas office. He later took us on a tour of Tokyo University where he teaches architecture. We had the chance to meet some other students and see some work and sat in n one critique- very interesting! Then we split up to visit the enormous department store called Toku Hands to pick up a variety of supplies for our studio project.
Today we had an incredible visit to Sou Fujimotos firm, although he was away in witzerland for the art fair we were able to meet his staff. They were a very cool and exciting young group of architects and they offered us all internships on the spot because they have been so busy haha. Seriously though I might apply for one next summer- the office was so cool! Because Fujimoto was unable to meet us he instructed the staff to give each of us a copy of their latest book which was very exciting. I have been carrying it around with me all day- I love it! I also feel in love with this firm because of one particular project involving cubes- those of you familiar wth my work from last semester will understand ;)
After a very special lunch that we shared with Thomas, Kenta and Stanly at a Korean BBQ place we headed to the next firm (by the way- on the way there Kenta pointed out a Japanese Gangster guy called a Yakuza which Annie and I thought was very exciting hahaha). Once we reached the very famous Maki and Associates we were able to see many of there exciting projects in model form and asked many questions- again about interning there in the future ;)
Now I plan on spending a quiet evening working on my studio project- which I will share with you all soon!
L,
Becky

I'm sorry you're having trouble with Photoshop but you've got enough to do to keep up with all of the sight seeing, projects, and people. You can post more photos after you return.

You've convinced me that I need to visit Japan but I wonder if I would be able to have such an amazing experience without the wonderful guides that you must have.

Good luck with your projects. I'm looking forward to more posts when you have a chance.
